Presbyopia

People generally start becoming presbyopic sometime in their mid forties. If you have presbyopia then you will have a reading addition on your prescription. Presbyopia is caused by the lens inside the eye losing the ability to change focus; this means that you start to need reading glasses or different strengths of lenses for distance and close up. The first sign that you are becoming presbyopic may be that you have to hold things farther away to read clearly. Often this problem can be solved by simple reading glasses, although these will cause blurred vision if you try to look across the room. Other solutions could include bifocal or varifocal lenses.
